Events & Program Manager
Deadline to Apply: October 30, 2017
The Events & Program Manager will handle the projects and events of the organization to ensure that they are in line with the mission of the Moebius Syndrome Foundation.
The main responsibility for this role is to manage the logistics for the Moebius Syndrome Foundation Conference, which is held every two years. The next event is in July 2018 and is being held in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Program Manager must be available to attend the event – July 17 – July 22nd. The Events & Program Manager will set up the registration process online, manage event registrations, schedule consult appointments for attendees, coordinate with speakers, research and confirm sponsors, work in conjunction with the conference planning committee and report directly to the Executive Director. On-site management will include working with the hotel staff, managing volunteers, being the main point of contact for the childcare staff, running the registration desk/process, coordinating AV and overall ensuring the event runs smoothly.
The Events & Program Manager will also work with the Regional Director and Coordinators across the country to handle logistics and run events around the country; about 10 – 20 events per year. You will not be on-site at all of these, but some travel may be required. Our Regional Coordinators are all volunteers, so they need help securing permits, finding venues, coordinating registrations and incorporating fundraising techniques into their events. This is a new venture for the organization and the successful candidate will be creative and able to multi-task, managing several events at the same time.
The Events & Program Manager needs to be well-versed in Microsoft Excel and creating spreadsheets and creating/managing statistical data. Nonprofit experience and/or event planning experience is preferred.
The Events & Program Manager will be expected to work about 20 hours per week or 1,000 hours per year. During conference planning, there will be more hours dedicated (February – July). We are a virtual staff so the position will be based from your home office. The position reports directly to the Executive Director and will be a 1099 contractor position.
The hourly compensation will be $20 – 25 per hour; to be determined based on experience.
Please respond to this job posting with a cover letter and resume to email@example.com. Applications will be accepted until October 30th.
